Free Couches

I often wonder what becomes of the couches left on the curbs and in the yards of owners who no longer have a use for them whether due to redecorating or, perhaps, ruination by means too awful to think about. I’ve seen some of these snatched up less than an hour after being set out while others have stood , ignored, passed by for days until suddenly disappearing, their fates unknown.
I especially like how the owner took the time to tie the cushions pillows together. Saves time when loading.
Without a “Free” sign is it still safe to assume it’s there for the taking? Or, does the family come out and sit on it from time to time, watching the world go by?
On the street at the end of my alley, this one sat for three days before disappearing for what is hopefully a happy, second life
