Deadpool Is Not a Kids Movie
by Andrew on February 29, 2016
I went to see Deadpool last Sunday afternoon. First off, it’s a great movie. Funny, irreverent, foul language, gratuitous violence and just about everything else you might think of to earn this an “R” rating. This is very much an “R” rated movie.
I knew nothing of Deadpool, the comic, before the movie came out. What I knew of the movie I learned from previews I saw while attending other movies. I’d also read some posts which were adamant that Deadpool is NOT FOR CHILDREN. Even Deadpool himself was warning that kids shouldn’t see this movie.
So what did I see when I walked into the theater? A family with three kids, the oldest of which could not have been more than ten.
Now I know, the blogosphere is lit up with posts about kids and Deadpool so really, adding my voice is pointless. But seriously, what the fuck is up with that? It is NOT a movie for children. PERIOD.
During this showing the kids started crying and one parent took them out of the theater, just before the sex montage. I thought to myself maybe they realized their mistake and one parent decided to slip into a more suitable movie with the kids. Then the parent brought them back. Twice. Yes, the kids started crying, were led out of the theater by a parent and brought back again. TWICE.
And, yes, I’m being judgmental about this bit of bad parenting but I feel confident I wasn’t the only attendee looking down on those parents.
Deadpool is NOT FOR CHILDREN!
