Sunday morning I found myself making an unexpected trip back to the bar which I’d patronized the night before.  Not sure how but I’d managed to leave my credit card sitting on the bar when I forgot to sign the slip before leaving.  Funny part is, I sat up in bed at 2:00 in the morning with that realization.  Don’t know why it pulled me from my slumber at that time.

I’m dying to know who might have taken this. It’s really ratty.

Although it’s less than two miles from my house, it’s not a bar I frequent.  Therefore driving back the next morning provided the opportunity to cruise down streets I wouldn’t normally use.  This provides another opportunity.

For obvious reasons, weekends are generally the best chance for finding free stuff on the curb.  Housework, cleaning out the garage and lengthy, so-called “honey-do lists” can all result in SOTC.  So a random drive down unfamiliar streets on a Sunday morning gave me an unexpected opportunity to snap a few pics of what I presumed to be some kid’s cheap desk.  This turned out to be a little bit more of a gem than I expected.

As I moved to different angles for different shots I noticed a little sticker in the cup holder.  I’m standing in Minneapolis on a Sunday morning in March and what do I see but the Oakland A’s logo on this desk.  That’s my team!  My hangover stopped bothering me as I became a little nostalgic for California and summer evening attending games with friends at the Coliseum.

I love spring.  I love when the clocks change.  I love baseball.  Training camps are open, the season starts in a few weeks.  The A’s don’t come to town until July but that’s soon enough.  A little delayed gratification never hurt anyone.
