Referring to someone as a douche, douchebag, douchenozzle or douchecanoe – one of my favorites – doesn’t have nearly the effect it once did.  There used to be a certain haha shock value in suddenly calling  out someone’s behavior with a quick, “Douchebag!”  Perhaps there still is but it seems almost passe.

That said, douchebag and all it’s variations will remain in my repertoire of verbal insults.  It just works.   Every day it seems there is an abundance of douchebag-naming opportunity.

For instance, today’s Daily Dose of Douchebaggery is about whoever the douche is who absolutely could not bear carrying his empty chip bag up or down the stairs, back to his desk, to the nearest garbage can so just had to deposit it in the stairwell (see picture below).

This is douchbag behavior in a nutshell.

Honestly, what compels a person to do something like this?  I can see a junior high school student thinking this was appropriate, but this is the building where I work.  It’s an office building.  There are, supposedly, professional people working here.  Well, I work here so maybe professional is stretching it a bit, but still.  I’d be willing to bet this guy tosses cigarette butts on the ground outside.  But that’s a topic for another day.

I hope he trips down the stairs next time.
